Da Nang's long-term socio-economic development roadmap has a rich history, but the critical feature of the development strategy is Politburo Resolution No. 33 NQ / TW, dated 16th October 2003 from the Ministry of Politics, about the construction and development of Da Nang City in the period of national industrialization and modernization, emphasizing "in which Da Nang was identified as the center of economics, culture, science and technology for the Central Region and of the country." The position and requirements set for Da Nang prior to the renovation and integration period are not only the development of the city, but also play a critical role, creating momentum for development in the region as well as the whole country.
Being a centrally governed city on the South Central Coast of Viet Nam, located in the middle between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, including the mainland and archipelago in the East Sea. 30 km of coastline with 6 districts, including Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Ngu Hanh Son, Son Tra, Lien Chieu, Cam Le and two sub-local districts: Hoa Vang District and Hoang Sa District.
Da Nang is at the center of four world cultural heritage sites: Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave; The Hue Imperial City; Hoi An Ancient Town; My Son Sanctuary. The East-West Economic Corridor route identifies Da Nang as the international gateway to the Pacific Ocean for the six Central Highlands provinces of Viet Nam as well as Laos, Myanmar and Northeastern Thailand.
Thanks to the favorable geographical position, it will be the prerequisite and the best chance for Da Nang to continue to affirm and promote its potential strengths for its economic development at new levels, especially the multilateral opportunities which will come when the TPP transatlantic agreement enters into force in the upcoming years.
